Preparing for Your Commercial Move: 3 Steps You Should Take Before the Movers Arrive

Posted on

Moving your business to a new location can be an exciting and ultimately profitable change. Unfortunately, this move can also be time-consuming and stressful for many business owners. Thankfully, there are things that you can do to help make this experience a more positive one. One of these things is to hire commercial movers to handle your move. Using these professional moving services can really go a long way towards helping to ensure your commercial move goes smoothly. However, there are also a few steps that you can take before your movers arrive. You can learn more about these three steps below.

1: Make Sure You Clearly Label Any Items You Do Not Want The Movers To Take

If you have any items such as private client records or personal items that you do not want your commercial movers to transport, it is important to make sure these items are clearly labeled before the movers arrive. This can be done by simply placing a label on each item that indicates it is not to be moved. You can also make things even easier by placing all of these items in one single location when possible. By completing this step before your commercial movers arrive, you will be able to minimize the chances of any items being mistakenly loaded onto the moving truck and improve the efficiency with which your movers will be able to get the job done.

2: Be Sure There Is Ample Parking Space For The Moving Truck

If you have limited parking on your current commercial property, you will want to make sure that there is ample space available for your moving truck once it arrives. The further away the truck is forced to park, the more time it will ultimately take to safely load the truck. Consequently, it is a great idea to use some traffic cones to block off an area of your parking lot prior to the moving truck arriving to ensure that no visitors or employees park in this area. This will ensure that your movers are able to easily access your building and get your move completed in a timely fashion.

3: Use Color Coded Labels To Indicate Which Office Each Box Belongs To

If you have multiple offices inside your business, you will want to make use of color-coded labels to identify the proper location for each of your boxes. This will allow your commercial movers to ensure each box makes it to the correct location once it arrives at your new property. This will also make unloading your moving truck more time efficient since the movers will not need to read the label on each individual box in order to determine where it should be placed.
